Volunteering – M.D, 14 year old

With people busier nowadays, volunteerism is on the decline. But the number of people who need assistance is on the rise. I remember the first time I volunteered, I had to read out stories to young children to teach them about mental health. Having seen many of my friends, the new generation, suffer from a myriad of mental health issues, I knew what I was doing was meaningful. The best thing was that all the children were so curious and eager to learn. Their bubbly nature was contagious and spread joy to me. It was a wonderful experience. Being aware that I am doing good for the world, no matter the impact I make, allows me to be at peace.
