Ceramic Fun – J.G, 18 year old
I remember when I was young, my grandmother and I would sit together, and shape Plays Dohs into different pots, plates, and kitchen appliances. I loved how we could shape anything and ignore the mess we made. I was just a child having fun, using her imagination to the maximum. Now, I frequently revisit that memory, especially after my grandmother passed away. I miss her so much. My grandma would always protect me, and that memory brings me peace. When I am stressed that nothing turns out the way I want it to be, simply having some clay to mold in my hands brings me so much safety. Sometimes I use a toothpick to draw some shapes and patterns. Recently, I attempted to draw bamboo sticks, which symbolize growth in my culture. I keep this by my bedside to remind myself to stay strong even though my grandma is not with me anymore.
